The Newberry was founded on July 1, 1887 and opened for business on September 6 of that year. Wheeler was born in Hopkinton, Massachusetts, the son of John Wheeler and Miriam P. Daniels. Robert William Karrow, Jr. was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, 5 August 1945, and educated in the public schools of Hartland, Wisconsin.
